Apparently the lust for zombie killing is growing to a maddening high as the L4D property flexes it’s muscle with this recent news bit.
According to eurogamer, pre-orders for Left 4 Dead 2 are DOUBLE in number when compared to the original Left 4 Dead’s pre-orders already and we are still roughly 20 weeks out from the sequel’s release date. (They received word of these statistics from Valve themselves.)
I guess the boycott for this title didn’t work so well now did it?

i cant wait for L4D2, im definatly getting it
lol so much for ‘no one getting it because it was to soon after the first’
im defo getting it i love L4D and i will be pre-ordering it, along with Halo OTSD.
ya what happened to everyone boycotting it because its being released too soon?
exactly it was all a front people just like to complain, i dont see why tbh the amount they would of payed to get all the features from l4d2 in l4d would nearly have been as much as L4D2 itself anyway so yeah im happy about it and i cannot wait to kuick more zombie ass!
I can’t wait for this game to come out, but I won’t be pre-ordering for a while!
The game sold million(s) of copies. While 30,000+ (size of boycott group) is nothing to sneeze at ($1.5million in sales revenue), it is a drop in the bucket compared to everyone out there who will buy the game.
I think it’s telling that, Valve a company that has a reputation for being very focused on their consumers, even with as “large” an outcry as the steam group was they are still planning to go ahead without any concessions.
I don’t think they could change L4D2 at this point, even if they wanted to. It would seem that this is very much a 360 title and so probably received “incentives” from Microsoft to get this game out for the fall. Incentives big enough to make it attractive to Valve even if it sacrifices some of the goodwill the community has towards them.
Personally I am holding off until I see what “more” they have in store. Either more content/features to differentiate from the original game, or some sort of marketing/deal for owners of L4D1.
From what we know at this point, it still feels a little too “samey”, for another $50 only 1yr after the first one, considering what may be done with mods and the SDK, to warrant a preorder.
But things certainly can change.
Can’t wait for this game!
I’m probably going to stick to the original L4D unless something really catches my eye in this sequel further down the line.
This game is going to be sick
No doubt this is a purchase for me. I would also prolly buy any l4d content they release if chievos are involved ;p
Haha screw the boycotting lol. I can’t wait to chop some zombie heads off with the axe!
I forsee quite a few tournaments ramping up for this title
